Western Red Cedar FluteFor the budget-conscious, I offer this full-size flute in F#m. It is made from traditional Western Red Cedar. The major difference between the Western Red Cedar flute and the Eastern Aromatic Cedar flute is, basically, the wood. People are amazed at how little this flute weighs when they pick it up. The Western Red Cedar in F# makes a good starter flute as well as a good foundation for the beginning of a collection of flutes. This instrument will not disappoint. Click on the flute to see how it sounds. (WMA file.) Western Red Cedar is a traditional, sacred wood. This wood is/was used by western and northwestern tribes. It is soft wood, easy to work and produces a "Native", earthy sound. You can feel the music in the flute because it is so light. I have finished this flute, as I do all my flutes, with a marine spar urethane. First of all, it protects the flute from moisture. The air passages will not swell after extended playing times. The finish also protects the wood from U.V. rays, strengthens the wood and protects it from moisture and temperature changes. As usual, this flute comes with a turquoise cabochon and a free felt case. Thank you for looking and listening. Laughing Crow You can also purchase this flute using the Order Form on this site. |
