I happened to find a rare slab of Curly Redwood and managed to get enough wood from it to make this masterpiece. About half of the wood had to be trimmed away as it was unsuitable for musical instruments. However, enough wood was available to create this unique Indian flute. The woods used in the making of this Native flute are Curly Redwood, Spalted Curly Maple and Purple Heart. The fetish is created using Curly Chechen Negro. The redwood used here is relatively soft thus giving the instrument a more mellow and softer tone. It is finished with four coats of acrylic polyurethane to give stability to the wood and protection from the elements. The deep, rich finish also brings out the astounding natural curl of this rare piece of redwood. Compared with other flutes of this caliber, I feel that you are getting an instrument that is as beautiful as any other and has a sweet, natural tone that is hard to beat, all at a fraction of the cost.
