Photos of Where I Live & Work

Here we have an F#m Morado flute with inlay by Laughing Crow. This flute is signed and dated. It has a full, rich voice and plays all the notes, both the Native American Scale in F#m and the diatonic scale of A major very well. Some half-holing is required to reach the high A properly, but that's pretty normal with most NA flutes. F#m is the most popular key for the Native American Flute and A major is popular with almost every musician. Morado (Spanish for purple) is rosewood found in Central and South America. It's similar to the rosewood that is used for guitar fretboards. I have placed a complimentary strip of inlay along the top of the flute as well as a turquoise cab to enhance the natural beauty of this dense, hard wood. The polyurethane finish is rich and deep to bring out the gorgeous grain and keep this flute looking and playing beautifully for a lifetime. The finish also waterproofs the wood in order to minimize swelling and cracking related to the natural condensation that forms, also known as "wetting up".  This Morado has a rich depth and beauty thanks to clear polyurethane finish. My F#m flutes are usually around 23 1/2" long and the longest hole spread is around 1 1/4" on the south holes and 1" on the north holes. The size of my F#m flutes is comfortable for most hands. The tone is low enough to be meditative while maintaining a length that is accessible.

You can listen to the MP3 sound samples of this flute. To hear the natural dry sound of this F#m Morado flute, click here.  To hear the enhanced "canyon" sound with reverb, click here.
