Mango is a wood that I'm really excited about. The wood for this Native American flute comes from Kauai. The tree was blown down in a hurricane and now, part of it has been made into this marvelous flute. This instrument features bands of inlay circling the flute. The wood has a strong personality and there's a lot going on with the grain and color. All the colors are natural and have been brought out by the six clear coats of acrylic polyurethane. I've used Morado for the bird, which is a rosewood from Central America. Morado is similar to the rosewood used for fret boards in guitars. This is an exceptional flute to look at and to play. It has a sweet, dark tone that is soothing, meditative and relaxing to hear and feel. This flute will definitely stand out in any collection or on any stage. It's a darker, more mellow sound than the popular F#m and requires hands with a fair amount of flexibility as the flute itself is a little over 24" long.
